Christine and The Queens – People I’ve Been Sad

Christine is one of my favourite artists and this live video performance of their new track is so simple and so powerful.  As always they have managed to distill a universal feeling into a beautiful pop ballad.  Seamlessly switching between English and French the emotion in this song is palpable.

Tim Sheil – Right In Front Of You (feat. Brailleface)

I have been a huge fan of Tim’s work since his first Faux Pas releases and I just love Jordan’s (Brailleface) voice.  The video for this song is so strange too.  It starts off as a lyric video but then morphs into something else entirely when the subtitles start to go rogue and the text is somehow being generated from another source.  I love the way Tim’s work stretches your brain.

Taylor Swift – The Man (Live From Paris)

This song is just so great! This acoustic arrangement is great and shows how good her songwriting is.  I love the sentiment of this song.  I think it’s really empowering for young women to have an anthem like this.

Aphir – Your Heroine

Becki Whitton’s songwriting and and production are so rich.  I think she is one of the most exciting artists in Australia at the moment.  I absolutely love the B-side track to this release too.   She has a new album coming out this year and I am so excited for the world to hear it.

Costume – Dream Palace

I’m supporting Costume on their Dream Palace tour later this month.  February 28th at Launceston’s Earl Arts Centre and March 6th at Hobart’s Peacock Theatre.  They premiered at Dark Mofo last year after recording their debut album in Iceland at the fabled Greenhouse Studios (Bjork, The xx, Anohni, Kanye West).
