First up (in no particular order) I have South Australian born Apollo Blue, an incredibly talented and enigmatic new artist that has burst onto the scene with his new single Moonchild. This expansive track will really take you on a lyrical and musical journey; with beautiful piano and guitar hooks that bring back the classic vibes of Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and a hint of Freddie Mercury all at once! The story of Moonchild is explored through the emphatic vocals of Apollo Blue as a story of the dark stranger that lives within us all. It really is a banger!

Spend time with family. Pirie has a relaxing air that makes everything slow down and feel more special. I love having tennis hits with my Mum at the local courts and playing a game of cards with my Dad and Twin Sister by the ocean at Weeroona Island, a tidal island just outside of Port Pirie.

Stay at Carn Brae. Right in the heart of Port Pirie is something you wouldn’t expect, a beautiful 115 year old heritage listed manor! I’ve been obsessed with this mystical building since I was a kid and recently the owners have restored the home and allowed people to book it out! It’s full of led lighting and Victorian inspired design, perfect for spinning to Stevie Nicks songs and disappearing into another world.

Explore the Flinders Rangers. Port Pirie (Nukunu Land) is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges which are home to a lot of native wildlife. It’s such a relaxing and scenic site to experience.

Eat Happy Birds Chips! Everyone in South Australia knows the best hot chips you’ll ever eat are at Happy Birds in Port Pirie. The most heavenly crunchy, thick cut chips.

See an exhibition at the Port Pirie Tourism & Arts Centre. There’s always an interesting collection of local artworks displayed, I love experiencing the work of other local artists and learning about their story. They often feature local Indigenous artwork which is so special, such a great way to connect with the native culture of this land.
