Capturing and celebrating all things bittersweet and beautiful in the world, glistening alt pop trio PRETTY TALKS return with an immersive and intensely engaging new single Hurt Me, officially out today. Showcasing a relationship breakdown soundtracked by glossy pop and retro synths, Hurt Me is also today accompanied by a raw music video that traverses youthful romance and the many harsh realities that can come with the territory, while also drawing inspiration from early 2000s and 2010s pop culture for good measure.
WE GOT TO SPEAK TO THEM ABOUT GETTING THE PARTY STARTED:
‘Dancing Queen’ – ABBA
The Queens and Kings of feeling good. Really any of their catalog can get the party going, or revitalize the energy of a room. Obviously every pop writer has love and respect for Abba, amazing writers and their music will continue to influence generations of musicians and everyday people until the end of time.
‘Mr Brightside’’ – The Killers
I’ve never felt more cliche answering a question before but, come on, you know it’s true, everybody knows and either secretly or openly loves this song when it’s time to party. The Killers as a band are great, they’re constantly reinventing themselves and still writing great songs!
‘Party in the USA’ – MIley Cyrus
Will always pull people to the dance floor. We all grew up in a generation where that song will always hit in such a nostalgic way, It is undeniably a song that everyone will shamelessly scream along to. I love Miley’s new direction with her new Rockstar energy, again she is someone who reinvents themselves amazingly, even more so than The Killers!
“Dancing in the Moonlight” – Toploader
It feels like just a wholesome, innocent, joyous song that everyone knows. Some of my best drunken memories are soundtracked by this song. I know it’s originally by King Harvest (at least I think it was), but the vibe of their version is different. Don’t get me wrong I still love it but it just doesn’t have that launching into a party vibe that will start things off.
‘Hung Up’ – Madonna
Like ABBA, any song by the Queen of Pop Madonna has released is an instant bop and will have people flocking to the dance floor. ‘Hung up’ is just one of Madonna’s songs that I intrinsically link with a good time, it’s absolutely rinsed at the clubs we go to, in the best way. Many blurry nights have begun with that amazing synth line.
